A genuine wonder in the heart of the Peak District
Treak Cliff Hill is the only place in the world where Blue John Stone naturally occurs.
The mineral is a unique colour and is a banded form of Fluorspar. It is believed it was originally given its name from the French "bleu et jaune" -
the "blue and yellow" stone.
It was mined in the eighteenth century with the Derbyshire folk of the time coining the name of Blue John Stone.
